I took conceptual physics my first semester of my freshman year. This was the first class that I took in college that had a lab period too. This was a new experience for me, but I really enjoyed this class and found rather easy, which I was not expecting at all when I first entered the class. Something that I took from this class was the importance of hands on activities in a classroom setting. There were a few points in the semester where I found a few parts of the material a little challenging, but after the labs I felt much better about the material and usually had a better understanding. I took away the importance of having hands on activities in my future classroom and understand their importance now. An example of the help of the labs and hands on activities can be seen in my work of lab 9 which was on law of refraction and thin lenses. When trying to complete the homework assignments for this unit I was struggling, but after the lab I was able to complete the homework no problem. This class has encouraged me to incorporate labs and manipulatives into my classroom, as I experienced first hand how helpful and impactful they are.
