Being a member of the Cormier Honors college has been the best experience. One of the pillars of the Honors college is Community. A community is defined as “all the people living in an area or a group or groups of people who share common interests.” For me, this means more than just living in Wheeler Hall and taking different classes. The Cormier Honors College has become my family, allowing me to form friendships that will last me a lifetime. The Honors Community is my support system, constantly encouraging to pursue my goals and make my dreams a reality.
Being part of the Cormier Honors College has helped me to become part of other communities as well. Since being in the Cormier Honors college I have become a sister of Sigma Sigma Sigma, a member of Alpha Lama Delta, National Society of Leadership and Success and a peer mentor at Longwood University. Without the community of the Cormier Honors College, I would feel as comfortable on campus as I do. People in the Honors College are the nicest people and always willing to lend a helping hand. The connection between all of the members of the Cormier Honors College creates this community of intellectual leaders that is unlike any other group I have been involved in. My new family, Cormier Honors College, has helped to make Longwood University my home.
