Reflection

The press release assignment used the same imaginary product, holographic flower arrangements created by Flowerlite, we created for the brochure assignment. This was also a collaborative project. A press release format begins with a short headline with and active verb and we used “announced.” The language in a press release should be objective, concise and concrete. A press release is about the facts. Our first paragraph stated in clear, objective terms, a description of the product in two sentences. The second paragraph contained a quote from the company, as is standard formatting. We followed with a deeper explanation of how holographic flower arrangements worked; this was a revolutionary product and a reader needed concrete detail to understand it. A call to action was encouraged with the offer of a free essential oil kit and complete contact information was included. We kept the release to one page which is the format standard.  This exercise promoted the need to write clearly and objectively which is something I practice daily in my job.
