In this class, I learned about how to effectively implement writing instruction in an elementary classroom. This class was essential because I have always learned about reading and how the best practices related to reading instruction, but this class was the first time when I learned about how to teach children to write. I loved this class because it explored out of the box ways to get students writing besides the standard 5 paragraph papers. With this class, we had to write blogs about once every two weeks about what we had read and discussed in class, and we were tasked with making our posts in a non-traditional form.
Poem
Rubric or checklist? It’s the teacher’s call
You would think there is one that rises above all.
It’s always up to the teacher’s discretion,
unless one student has a checklist obsession.
Rubric or checklist? The question still has no reaction
Just make sure your pick has student satisfaction.
