This is the first enhancement I’ve done in my time in honors. I was excited to blend the subject of my major and the coursework of an honors class because for me, it was like the best of both worlds. We were so lucky in the sense that our professor gave me and the other honors students total freedom when it came to our enhancement. We focused on Autism Spectrum Disorder and created both a flyer and a powerpoint geared towards mothers. Both explained how to facilitate language from a current nonverbal child and provided community resources for the town of Farmville. It was challenging to come up with a flyer that could be understood by all levels of education, because all of us are used to the clinical terms we use in class everyday.

Overall, it was a great experience and I really loved combining honors and my major. We don’t always get to do fun projects like this is the upper level classes, so it was really nice to do something creative for a change. It gave me a greater knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and gave me tips on how to advertise resources later when I have my own clinical practice.

Attached is the flyer we made!
