In our class we used textbook Rhetoric in Civic Life By: Catherine Helen Palczewski, Richard Lee and John Fritch. We read and study the chapters. After reading each chapter we would write journal entries to reflect on its key points. These writings would reinforce the concepts of our readings and what we learned from them. Once the rhetor establishes his ethos, they begin to use their art of persuasion. They have many symbols of persuasion at their fingertip to use to form their argument to evoke their audience into action. The journal entries helped to put these different techniques together and how they are used so we could apply them to our own course projects a well as in our everyday lives.
