I am currently a student at Longwood University and I am working towards my Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Elementary Education. Rhetoric in Civic Life writing seminar class is where my journey began. As a class we discussed our chapter readings, worked on different class activities, viewed and discussed video’s and other writings, analyzed an artifact and created our group projects. We explored many aspects of how rhetoric plays a huge role in our active citizenship within our communities and how it helps to promote change. The rhetor defines their audience, establishes their ethos, present their logos and applies pathos in order to persuade their audience into action for their cause. I now realize that rhetoric is all around us in many different forms and plays an important role in our everyday lives.
