For SPED 411, this class was focused on augmentative and assistive communication (AAC) devices. For our split section in this class, we worked with a student who was doing her undergraduate research on AAC devices. Her undergraduate research had to do with making AAC devices for families in the community. Our task was to make a communication book for whatever student/family we were assigned. I was given information about the student like his family members, what he likes, his favorite foods, his favorite activities and whatever words his mom/family would want him to be able to say. I enjoyed making this communication book. Then we were able to meet with the families and show them how the book worked and answer any questions they may have about their new communication book.
