I took this Children’s Literature class my junior year of college. We read a variety of children’s books in this class and then had to find the connection or link between all the books. Our final project was to write a paper about a children’s book or series, and address a point that no other scholar has talked about. My essay was about the stories of Winnie-the-Pooh. I talked about how Disney changed the original meaning and intent behind this story. Disney has a way of making all stories and books extremely colorful, with big language and bright colors to draw attention to children. Disney took the story of Winnie-the-Pooh and changed it to draw attention to this series and make it a best seller. This paper was hard to write, I had to analyze children’s books, which is something I had never done before. I did, however, feel very accomplished when I finished this project.
