Service

Service is a word that has always been important to me. Growing up as a child, my family would always involve my brother and I in service related activities and as I got older, I continued my love and passion for service. At home, I am currently volunteering at the Salvation army and Speranza. Both of these organizations are non-profits who look to help people or animals in need. I have been working with said organizations for 3 years now and love every minute of it. Longwood offers different opportunities for service. As a freshman, I attended an Alternative spring break in the Grand Canyon. This was a full week of service work helping to clean and maintain the beauty of the national park. Also, I have been involved with Movers and Shakers which is a day of service to help move Freshman at Longwood into their dorms. I love that the Honors college encourages their students to do service work, it is an amazing and humbling experience that teaches you about yourself while helping others.
