Correspondence

For this unit of the course, I wrote a persuasive letter (first on this page) and bad news letter (second on this page). The process for creating these two documents challenged my previous ideas about what constitutes each letter. Though slightly formulaic in nature, I now know the most effective techniques for creating both bad news and persuasive letters to ensure the best end results. In particular, including the “nod” in my bad news letter to acknowledge the recipient’s needs is effective and something I had not heard of previously. I now feel more comfortable employing these techniques in a professional context if I ever hold a position that requires me to do so.
