Formal Report

For the Formal Report project, my group members and I created a twenty-five-page report where our company H.K. Bates Consulting was commissioned to perform an analysis of three assisted living homes’ websites for the Farmville Cares Living Community. In our analysis, we used three criteria that consist of visual appeal, content, and ease of navigation on The Woodland Inc., Lucy Corr, and Morningside of Bellgrade. In our analysis, we implemented the use of graphs, surveys, and screenshots to create a balance between text and images.

This project involved the use of goal three –  conduct research to create content for a variety of professional documents (memos, letters, reports, etc.); as well as goal four –  create professional documents that uses design—standard formats, layout, use of graphics, etc; and goal five – practice oral communication skills to present content effectively (enhanced with multimedia tools). The Formal Report required us to research the three websites content then sort it into organized sections for the analysis within the proper format of a formal report. It also had us utilizing the concept of meticulously formatting table of content pages, letters of authorization and transmittal, as well as a title page. Another factor was properly using images throughout the document. The final element of this project was the presentation. For this report, my group and I had to create a PowerPoint with multimedia (i.e. screenshots) to effectively present the material that we had created. This includes dividing up the presentation materials among the three of us and presenting in a cohesive manner. Overall, I believe this project was a great example of compiling a large quantity of information and formatting it into a proper formal report, then presenting it to our intended audience.
