Biology 399 – 50

During Fall 2018,  I participated in Evolution.  This was honestly my favorite biology course that I have taken at Longwood.  Throughout this course, we learned about the evolution of life on Earth, and how humans evolved from a fish hybrid known as Tektalic.  At the end of the course, we each had to create an “outreach project” that shows how we would communicate the theory of evolution to specific audiences.  As this class was an enhancement for me, I took it one step further and researched different demographics of people and their stances on evolution.  If researchers were more prepared on different demographics stances on evolution, they may be able to mold their approaches to explaining evolution to these types of people.  In my opinion, this was the final goal of the class.  We need to find a better way to approach these conversations.  People without backgrounds in science find it harder to accept scientific answers, and that is something that this community as a whole should work on.

Here, you will find my final poster on this topic.
