Introduction to Genetics and Cell Biology
Due to the large amount of Honors courses that I completed during my first year at Longwood, I only had to take one Honors course this year to stay on schedule. This course was Introduction to Genetics and Cell Biology with Dr. Barber. In this class, we took a more in-depth look at what goes on inside the cell. I learned a huge amount of information in this class. The exams were very challenging and it took me a while to figure out a study method that worked best for me. In lab, we worked on a semester-long project studying microbial diversity in Prince Edward County. This project introduced me to all the steps and protocols that go into creating an interesting, important, and novel experiment. At the end of the semester, each lab group created and presented a poster summarizing the experiment. This class helped me learn what a real upper-level science class requires. I now feel more prepared to take and do well in a larger amount of classes like this one.
