Welcome!

My name is Madison Gregory! I am a junior at Longwood University and am studying English as a major, have a minor in Communication Studies, and a concentration in Creative Writing. Since I was a child, I have been so interested in books and almost always had my nose stuck in a book, so I knew writing was something that I wanted to do when I grew up. I chose Longwood because after meeting with some of the English Department heads, I knew this was somewhere that I could thrive in and get incredible constructive criticism. After graduation, I plan to earn my master’s degree.

I created this ePortfolio for my English 470 Professional Writing Class. The top bar will take you to several literary works that I have created or collaborated on during my time in English 470. These documents have taught me not only how to work together with other members of my class to create a professional product, but also taught me how to conduct research in order to have the most knowledgeable documents possible.

Below is the list of the course outcomes from English 470:

1) analyze and produce writing genres according to the rhetorical situation of workplace contexts;

2) create professional documents that use plain English principles (to the targeted audience);

3) conduct research to create content for a variety of professional documents (memos, letters, reports, etc.);

4) create professional documents that use design principles;

5) practice oral communication skills to present content effectively (enhanced with multimedia tools);

6) participate productively in collaborative projects.
