Intro to Special Education (SPED 202)

Introduction to Special Education, taught by Dr. Khan, was just that. The course encompassed all of the possible exceptionalities that my classmates and I would see in our future careers as Special Education teachers. We learned about the history of different terminologies, how the field is always changing, and the characteristics and warning signs of different exceptionalities we may work with in the future. Though we did not have many assignments besides quizzes given at home, my favorite assignment in this class was my final project. My partner and I received funding to do research on our topic, which will be done more over the next year, and we created a project on one of the programs used for students with exceptionalities- Response to Intervention. We looked at different strategies used in RTI in 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade classrooms at a school in Virginia and decided which strategies were most effective for students on Tier three of RTI reading intervention. Our project had many facets, but perhaps the most important facet was our actual poster presentation, which I have attached.
