Information about who I am:

My name is Lindsey Cosner. I live in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I am a senior at Longwood University, receiving my Bachelor of Science in Communication Science and Disorders with a minor in Special Education. I graduate this May on the eighteenth then taking a year off to volunteer at a hospital and working and after this year I hope to go back to school to receive my masters in  speech language pathology. I am involved in the academic club for my major which is the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and also involved in Operation Smile. During the summers, I work at the Virginia Outdoor Center with customer service which has taught me to interact professionally with others.  I am a people person, who not only works with people but am going into a career field that serves others; which, gives me joy and makes me excited to wake up every day and pursue my desired path of life.

The purpose and content of the ePortfolio:

The reason for this portfolio is to display my assignments from English 470. We created pieces throughout the semester that prepared my peers and me for conducting the final assignment, the formal report. Those pieces include the bad newsletter, persuasive letter, brochure, the press release, and a TED talk. Then, our final assignment for the semester was the formal report. Throughout this course, these writing assignments have improved my writing skills and have brought me out of my comfort zone. Knowing the “8 C’s” has provided me with more trust in my capabilities and skills when completing writing assignments and knowing how to improve the mechanics of the assignment. The “8 C’s” given in our text book, Business and Profession Writing: A Basic Guide for Americans written by Paul MacRae, are:

  1. Clear,
  2. Concise,
  3. Concrete and Specific,
  4. Complete,
  5. Courteous,
  6. Coherent,
  7. Constructive, and
  8. Correct.

Listed below are the Course Learning Outcomes that we had to integrate and develop a better understanding of each assignment throughout our assignments, labs, and class. With this, we can later use it in our futures in our specific career field.
