Global Citizenship

For my Global Citizenship Pillar I took the FREN 111 Class Beginning Language and Culture with Madame Heather Edwards.

When I was in high school and had to choose a foreign language, I wanted to be different from the majority of people that chose Spanish, so I chose French. Naturally, I continued with French at Longwood, and I am so happy to have had Madame Edward’s classes. Previously, I had done a few presentations in my high school French classes, but as a freshman, this was my very first college presentation, and in French! However, we could talk about our research on the country in English. I had never been very fond of group work, and this was also a partner project, but my partner and I got along and became friends! We worked hard to make this brochure by studying in the library, researching Belgium, and organizing the information in a quick and user-friendly brochure format. I was nervous for this because we were one of the first pairs to present, but I had memorized what I wanted to say and show about this beautiful country, and it went great! It was a little different from ones I had done before, and I was anxious because it being my first presentation at Longwood, but I got through it, and even had fun in the process!
