I have completed over 150 hours of community service which has felt more like experience than volunteer work. Throughout the past 6 years I have helped my high school plan and prepare a VHSL conference in which I also ran my own focus group and educated students about how to make school event more inviting for all students. I have also helped organize relay for life events, worked Christmas breakfasts, volunteered for FACES food pantry and even at an alpaca farm.
VHSL – 2015-2017: For this conference I was on the planning and educating committee which involved me planning what to talk about and teach my class of students. I also helped decided what we would feed attendees, what our shirts would look like, invitations and speaking to over 100 adults about our conference and why they should attend. The whole experience was very rewarding and educational as a tenth grader getting their first stab at some event planning.
Relay 4 Life Club – 2014-2018: I have gained so much experience and was able to make a huge impact on this club and my community as an officer. Through this club I was able to plan and execute events like a color run, Christmas parade, Relay for life big event and much more. I got hands on experience planning, designing and working/managing events for this club which has a lot of purpose and meaning in my life.
FACES – 2017: Faces was a very important experience because we had to be fast, organized and helpful. We gave vegetables and other groceries out to people of low income at the Farmville, FACES location and people went through a line system to get their food. We had to make sure we were fast so we could get people through quickly so more people could get food and orderly so they could all have a chance at all options we had.
Internship – 2018: Spring of 2018 I am completing an internship in Manhattan, New York at Ardea Arts. Ardea Arts will be my first full time hands on experience that will help me learn how to event plan, administrate and help with production. This company is non-profit so I expect to learn a lot and gets hands on many tasks.
