Biology 250: Introduction to Genetics and Cell Biology

The artifact shown above is a research paper that I completed in Cell Biology.  The paper shows my general knowledge of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), as well as, the steps I took to determine the homo- and heterozygosity of the subject at each SNP.  I took my findings and created a poster with my lab partner that we then presented at Longwood’s Student Showcase for Research and Creative Inquiry.  I found this class to be a challenge because of the research done in the laboratory.  While I enjoyed learning new techniques, it seemed that almost all of the techniques we used were unfamiliar to me.  However, I made sure to get a full understanding of what we were doing and why in order to get a more complete grasp of our project.  I believe that with the knowledge and techniques learned in this class, I will be able to succeed in future research projects.
