Although I have taken a few environmental classes throughout my educational career, I really enjoyed this one. We often spoke on current environmental issues, such as the Australian wildfires that were unfortunately occurring as the class began in the early spring semester of 2020. In addition, we spoke of environmental justice, something that has stuck with me since learning about it. It advocates for fair treatment of all in regards to environmental laws and regulations, and is something I think of regularly.
At the end of the semester, I teamed up with another honors student to create and present a poster in the virtual showcase that spring. Initially, we were going to test wildflowers and their abilities to catch and prevent gas or oil run off. Due to COVID-19 however, we were only able to do the research and predict what may happen if more wildflowers were planted near highways.
