Reflections of Letter: Senior

This semester has been interesting. Everything is in order leading to the last semester, and life is not looking half bad, just busy.

When it comes to community, some things have changed for the future, but not necessarily bad. Two of my three close friends in college are completing their internships next semester, meaning they will not be at Longwood next semester. Those friends are my roommate and his girlfriend, and I’ll miss them, but I am glad they found an opportunity for their futures. For this semester, my roommate and I have kept drifting apart due to how busy I am, yet I am getting closer to his girlfriend because we chat more often. Part of it is that he is also not in the room most of the time, but that is fine. My romantic interest and I are still going very strong and seem to be improving whenever we meet together. She has her worries about the future, which are valid, but the details are working themselves out. My professor and I are regularly talking to each other about my project and even set up an independent study next semester so that I can work on things next semester for my business while earning the necessary credits to graduate. I am very thankful to be able to work with him on this, as I would be lost without his guidance.

When it comes to the service pillar, not too much has changed other than the animation I have been working on for my senior project has had some developments along with my board game. My animation is about the effectiveness of play therapy for adults to improve social skills. It is coming along nicely and might be able to persuade some people to seek help if they think they need it. As for my board game, I am a couple of steps into the business competition in hopes of gaining money to make the game a reality. It could help bring people together, and I am looking forward to that prospect.

I have also completed my third semester in Design Lab, I wish I could do one more semester in it, but I do not have the time to complete another semester. I helped educate multiple clients about working with designers, what to expect from them, and making them happy with the designs I have made, and for that, I am glad for my time in Design Lab.

When it comes to the pillar of scholarship, not much has changed as per usual. I have gotten accepted onto the Dean’s List again, and I am sure I will be accepted onto the Dean’s List next semester with ease. As of right now, the tally is 7/8, with 8/8 within sight. As I have completed another Design Lab this semester, meaning I can add another semester to my resume, bolstering my resume more against future competition. My goals after college have only grown; as I have expanded the business idea. I am going to stream myself working on the products and selling merchandise based on my art style and the game. This means that gaining some form of money is imperative for the competition I am a part of, but I am not too concerned, as my professor is encouraging me, saying that I am one of the more promising candidates.
