The best practices for survey research are using descriptive, explanatory, and exploratory units of analysis which are the respondents to a questionnaire. A questionnaire should contain open-ended and closed-ended questions that the respondents must be willing to answer. In addition, the survey should avoid double-barreled questions and negative items. The question of this research is how family fun time activities affect family involvement. Specifically, I’m intersected in how socioeconomic status affects family involvement. The survey question that I will use to operationalize my dependent variable is how involved was the family in this activity, on a scale from 1-10. The survey question I will use to operationalize my independent variable is what is your household income. These are well-written questions because they are all relevant, and as short as possible. These questions avoid negative and biased items and terms.
