In a good survey, there are certain practices that everyone must follow. The survey must do no harm to the participants. It also must provide confidentiality and informed consent. A good survey must also include voluntary participation. The questions on the survey should be relevant, and measurable. The survey must not be cluttered nor use words that are complex. A good survey should include instructions and any demographic question should be at the end. Overall a good survey is short and clear.

 My research question is: how does the preschool a child attends encourage parental involvement? I will use “On a scale of 0 to 10 how involved was your family throughout the activity?” to operationalize your dependent variable? I will use “Where does your child attend? (Which Childcare program: Head Start or Andy Taylor Center)” to operationalize the independent variable. All of these questions are specific and precise. The options for the answers are also specific. None of the questions are long which makes for a good question.
