Service to me is helping for the good of everyone. You work to help others, but also yourself, as it helps you grow as a person. From service you learn, experience, feel, and create. An example of service that I had this past year was at the local SPCA. One specific Sunday we set up a fundraiser where we had games, food, raffles, and merchandise tables. We dedicated this whole day to raising money for the animals in the SPCA shelter we were at. We helped bring the community out to spread awareness, meet animals to encourage adoptions, and to learn. From this experience I gained a lot. For me it was emotional, it was extremely sad learning more about these poor innocent animals without families, but also heartwarming that so many people are working so hard to help these animals. It was a learning, moving, and exciting experience for me that I hope to have again. Service has been a huge portion of my life here in the Cormier Honors College and here at Longwood and I hope to continue this.
