Brochure

Reflection

This assignment was designed to be a group project and was paired with the press release report. The expectations of this project were to create a brochure giving information about a never-before-seen product by a company my group created. I worked with Abby Collier and Lexi Stenback to create Pet-tacular, an animal products company. Our product is a dog translator called Dog Dialog. This product allows dog barks to be translated into human speech. Our goal was to help pets and owner build stronger relationships.

I have created many brochures in the past, but I was unaware of the specific format they should follow. The text book was a great resource learning the content of each panel of the brochure and how to design it. Creating this brochure also introduced me to the software Canva I had never used before. Adhering to the format guidelines and manipulating the different features in Canva were some challenges my group had to overcome. We used the text book and PowerPoint examples as guides for our brochure. Additionally, I learned how to format outlines and other summaries that were necessary for the collection of data and creation of the brochure. I used to just take notes on a piece of paper, but now I can create organized outlines that are beneficial to my teammates. I was also able to practice my plain English writing with this project. We had to focus on the conciseness and correctness of our text. To do this we referred to the Eight Cs section in our text book. I feel like my biggest takeaway from this project was honing my collaboration skills and furthering my professional writing skills.
