Entering into the spring of my sophomore year my schedule consisted of mainly major classes like BIOL 250: Honors Introduction to Genetics & Cell Biology. This class challenged me to enhance my writing skills for the sciences, specifically Biology. Throughout the course of the semester, we constructed independent research projects that were presented at the Spring Research Symposium. My group and I observed the effects of yeast growth from local soil samples from HighBridge Trail under various environmental conditions. Going through the entire preliminary research, conducting the experiment step by step, and interpreting the results were valuable procedures that I will continue to build off of in the remainder of my classes. After completing a final research paper, my group and I created a poster to present at research day which I have included below!
