This past fall I took Honors Writing and Research with Dr. Lettner-Rust, and I can say it was one of my favorite classes I have taken at Longwood. Dr. Lettner-Rust consistently told us we were going to learn how to write for the university, and we did just that. However, it was her approach that made the class come together in such a unique fashion. Throughout the semester we read articles and discussed them in class. We learned tactics to code data from various sources and find the connections between them. This course prepared me for what to expect for college level writing, as well as writing for my major. Our end of the semester paper was a research paper about something pertaining to our major. My paper attached below examines the differences between scientific writing and other writing in the university. I interviewed my Biology tutor and professor to get their opinions, while referencing works we had discussed throughout the semester to compile a whole paper.
