Sexualities:
Heterosexual/straight: A person who has sexual attractions to the opposite gender
Lesbian: a female homosexual who has a sexual attraction to other females
Gay: a male homosexual who has sexual attraction to other males
Bisexual: a person who is sexually attracted to people of two sexes
Asexual: a person who has a lack of or low sexual attraction to anyone
Pansexual: someone who feels sexual attraction to people of any sex or gender identity
Demisexual: someone who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection to someone
Queer: someone who doesn’t conform, or wish to do so, to any specific identity in the LGBTQIA+ community; can also be considered a slur to people.
Gender identities:
Cisgender: someone who identifies as the gender they are assigned at birth
Two-spirited: a term used by indigenous North Americans to describe gender-variant individuals; do not use this term if you are not Native American.
Queer: someone who doesn’t conform, or wish to do so, to any specific identity in the LGBTQIA+ community; can also be considered a slur to people.
Agender: someone who does not identify with any particular gender
Transgender: someone who’s gender identity doesn’t correlate to their assigned biological sex at birth. This is also an umbrella term for other gender identities such as such as genderqueer, agender, bigender, genderfluid, and more.
Intersex: people who have chromosomes, gonads, or genitalia that do not conform to either a male or female biological sex exclusively; can identify with different genders depending on the individual
