In the Fall of 2021, I undertook a directed study with Mr. Josh Blakley. This directed study was a semester-long research project on the history of secret societies at Longwood University. My research was primarily done from the Longwood Archive Collection at the Greenwood Library. I was assisted by Jamies Krough throughout this process, one of Longwood’s archive specialists. I read hundreds of Rotunda articles and older student newspapers dating back to the mid-1800s to create my narrative. I also read through the various histories of Longwood held by the Greenwood library. My final product, attached below, was published in Incite, Longwood’s Undergraduate Research Journal.
