As a portion of the civitae curriculum, I participated in the English writing and rhetoric course. This course was a great introduction to the formatting and specifics of writing within the university and the use of communication to spread knowledge across the academic world. Although I personally felt that my abilities were applicable to the material that I was presented, I was able to develop my thinking and persuasion skills from the assignments in this course. The final assignment presented from this course, besides that of the final, was an Academic Article research paper on the communication and boundaries presented between each field across the academic world. From this course, I believe I developed my writing and interpretive skills into a much clearer expression of thought. From the beginning of the semester until the end, I could substantially tell the difference in my own writing and I believe that, with more time and educational experience, I will have developed an accurate standard of scholarly communication.
