Service is a way to enhance community bonds while assisting in creating more bonds within the community. Service is more than giving back to your community. I see service as voluntarily showing your love and support for the community. Aiding and supporting your community builds your character along with your ability to give out more love and support.
In spring 2019, a few members of my team and I went to the local Southside SPCA to play with some adoptable animals. Many of my teammates went to the SPCA throughout the morning and afternoon. We were able to take dogs outside and run around with them or play with toys. It was really fun to see the animals so happy and able to run around and not be in a cage. We were also able to see all the cats and kittens and play with them and pet them. It was a great experience and I plan on going back to the SPCA in my coming years at Longwood to see more new animals and give them the attention they need and deserve. Our team wanted to continue this SPCA service annually but COVID-19 thought differently. Along we were unable to see these amazing animals again this spring, our team and I have used our learned service from Longwood and taken it back home to aid in COVID-19 matters.
