Throughout my life, service has always played a major role in who I am. I am a strong believer in giving back to the community in any way possible. From a young age, my parents, teachers, and peers have pushed me to become involved in many service projects. Growing up in good home with loving parents has taught me to give back to those who were not as lucky as I was. Everyone deserves a chance to succeed at life, and by helping others through various projects, I feel that I can give others hope to want to succeed.
During high school, I began volunteering in elementary schools. I spent two years at Greenwood Elementary School where my love for teaching and education flourished. In this school, I worked with students who came from poor families. This was one of the most eye opening experiences of my life. Working with these students encouraged me to want to work in a lower socioeconomic classroom in the future-a career of service.
While thinking about joining a sorority, I knew the philanthropy aspect of the chapter was something that I could connect deeply to. After finding Alpha Delta Pi and learning that their philanthropy was the Ronald McDonald House, my heart was sold. RMH is an organization that provides housing for families while their loved ones are in the hospital. This really hit home for me because my family has used their housing once before while of my family members was in critical condition in the hospital. Throughout the semester, members of Alpha Delta Pi hold various fundraisers, collect pop tabs, and visit the Ronald McDonald house to help the families.
