I took Ethics (MATH 350) the spring of 2017 to complete this goal. It was an interesting class. We learned about different ethical theories and applied them to computer science and math, though mostly computer science since math doesn’t have many ethical dilemmas. OneĀ of the hardest aspects was identifying all the different view points and being sure we took everything into account. During the class, we had to do a debate, as the course was speaking intensive. My debate topic was on whether Virginia should switch to an open document formatĀ for all official communication. It was hard to prepare for, as I did not know what the other person would bring to counter my points. The class taught me that actions, both positive and negative, can be justified many different ways.
A sample of my work is below.
