Honors Courses

CTZN 110: Bodies and Citizen

  • In this class, we related modern day issues and topics to citizenship. This class helped me work on including myself in the discussions about relevant topics.

HIST 222: US Hist 1877-Modern Times

  • In this class, we looked at significant movements and moments in history from 1877 to the present. In many cases, we focused on women’s roles during the time as well as discrimination occurring. This class helped me realize that I enjoy learning about history and participating in the discussion was interesting.

EDUC 245: Human Growth & Development

  • This class was focusing on growth and development of humans, primarily focusing on children. We learned many theories and partially learned about techniques that can be used in the classroom. This class helped me realize that I enjoyed learning about the functions of the human mind and how people grow.

ART 324: Papermaking

  • This class helped me realize that general education classes are important. With several of my friends being teachers, it was easy to acknowledge that taking an art class can help with artistic abilities that can expressed within the work place. It also helped me become accustomed to working with a partner most of the semester with group work and coordinating schedules to be in the lab.

MATH 171: Statistical Decision Making

  • This class helped me with my ability to work mathematically with a partner. I had to overcome the urge to do papers alone as they were done in groups.

CTZN 410: Symposium for the Common Good

  • This class helped me understand more about the history of the LGBTQ+ community. I was able to work with my peers closely and helped me realize that group work is not always terrible, especially if the work is divided fairly. We started a website for Dr. Dudley-Shotwell’s CTZN 410 classes to continue in the future.

HONS 495: Special Topics

  • This class helped me understand the importance of global engagement both as a citizen and scholar. It also helped me understand that culture impacts everything, whether it is personal or professional. I was able to seek out advice from professionals in fields similar to my own as well.

WGST 373: Reproductive Justice
