For this course, I studied abroad in La Rochelle, France for three weeks in order to study L’Esprit Civique, or the Civic Spirit. We discussed the health system, the cuisine, and the environment and what France does and doesn’t do to protect it. When returning from France, each student proposed a project plan to be implemented in a community. As I feel strongly about plastic waste, I chose to discuss plastic straw consumption and its alternatives.
Pairing with this course, I took a French language course at the La Rochelle
Université, which transferred back to Longwood as a French elective credit, fulfilling a requirement for my major.
Below is the Abstract and Introduction from my proposal.
