I am currently a Modern Languages major with a concentration in both French and ESL, with license for PK-12, and a minor in Creative Writing.
When I was in middle school, I was running a Badge-in-a-Box event for my Silver Award. For this, I offered a sewing badge, full with my instruction and the materials. Troops could sign up to have me come teach the girls the badge, with a small cost to cover the materials. During this, I began to realize how much I loved standing in front of young students and watching them understand concepts! I also felt like I was good at teaching, too! Since then, I have wanted to be an educator.
In high school, I took Teacher Cadet. I was able to go out into the field for observations in both elementary and middle schools, and then I had the chance to student teach in a wonderful 3rd grade classroom. It was during my student teaching that I truly believed I was meant to be a teacher!
Then, I had to decide what I wanted to teach. In high school, I developed a passion for East Asian cultures and languages, and a passion for French. In order to travel to all of those countries, I decided to become an ESL teacher. However, very quickly into my college career, I realized I couldn’t give French up!
Before the end of my first-year, I decided to add a Creative Writing minor. I took an amazing general education class that rekindled my love for writing fiction!
Besides my course work, I am a brother of the Alpha Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega and the current Vice-President of the Honors Student Association.
