In the Spring semester of 2020, I took EDUC 245 with Dr. Tackett as an honors section. I had no idea when I signed up for this class how much I would learn or how wonderful Dr. Tackett would be. I also did not know we would be going online shortly after spring break because of COVID 19. Although this semester was challenging, to say the least, Dr. Tackett’s energy never wavered and she was always very concerned about how we were doing individually. I learned a lot in this class about the growth of humans from conception to late adolescence and how to apply that to teaching. I also learned how to be a good educator from Dr. Tackett. She showed us many ways to teach different concepts and to be understanding of different learning styles.
One of my favorite things about this class was the writing assignment we did throughout the year. I chose the topic of why the infant mortality rate is so high in the United States. I learned a lot about the topic and how to research well. I also learned a lot about being opened to new ideas. Attached below is that exact research paper.
