To me, community is one of the most important pillars. Community is what pushes me to do my best and achieve my goals. I grew up in a small neighborhood where everyone knew each other. My mom’s side of the family lived on my street, my babysitter was next door, and all of my best friends lived in the neighborhood. The support they gave me allowed me to be my best growing up. As I aged I became a part of more and more communities. The people I met while playing softball became my community, my coworkers became my community, and I formed more communities at different places I volunteered. Now I am a part of the Longwood community and the Honors College community. The thing about community is, you never really lose it. Those people will always support you, be there for you, and push you to do your best. I will continue to do my best and achieve my goals with the support of all of the communities I am a part of now and will join along the way.
