Rhetorical Analysis


This assignment was originally a little outside of my comfort zone as I had never written a rhetorical analysis before. However, after reading about different rhetorical strategies both in class and in the textbook, I felt more comfortable with completing this assignment. This assignment helped me learn how to “engage in the process of citizen leadership by investigating multiple perspectives on important public issues” as I had to take a topic that I was passionate about, Music Education, and examine both sides of the argument about whether or not we should keep it as a subject in public schools. Overall I think that this assignment was important not only in the sense that it fulfilled several of the Course Learning Outcomes, but also because it helped me realize that typically, individuals on both sides of the argument will be using rhetorical techniques in order to persuade you.
