CTZN 110: Bodies and Citizens
The artifact I chose for my citizen class is my final project. It was a presentation and annotated syllabus for a course I designed that exemplified the relationship between the rights of citizens based on the their bodies. I researched witchcraft, and the treatment of women who were targeted for the practice of it. Their rights were violated because they were female and usually had some knowledge of science or medicine. I enjoyed this assignment because it allowed us to use our creativity to expand upon the course and make it our own. It put into perspective just how much work goes into designing a class that incorporates a variety of sources and media.
ENGL 165: Writing and Rhetoric
The artifact I chose for this English class is my final research paper. Over the course of the semester, we practiced basic researching and writing skills before writing an article review and transitioned from that to the research paper using the same topic. I chose to research the benefits of aerobic exercise and mindfulness based stress reduction therapy on patients with depressive and anxiety disorders. This assignment pushed me to thoughtfully select sources that complimented or contradicted each other in a way that facilitated synthesis throughout the paper.
