This is a hilarious example of how social media can challenge unrealistic standards of beauty through its blending an ad for “Fotoshop” with common cosmetic marketing strategies. It went viral in 2012.

I thought this video was hilarious! It was a fun way of showing how women (and men for that matter) are being perceived as something they are not. Most people look up to celebrities for the physical appearance such as how skinny they are and how beautiful they are. But in reality, they are “normal” like everyone else, just majorly enhanced with the help of Photoshop. I think this video speaks to everyone by saying that it’s ridiculous that so much is done just to enhance the way that you look, when there is probably nothing wrong in the first place. I think eventually that this could give young children and young adults a sense that they are not good enough. If it is blatantly advertised that you “need” Photoshop to look good or a certain way, then that could negatively affect they see themselves.
