Welcome, my name is Tracy Davis and I am currently a senior here at Longwood University. I am currently working on a Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration on Family Studies. I have always been interested in working alongside children and families, but I never identified the appropriate path I wanted to follow. I started at Southside Community College with nursing, but as time progressed I changed my major to Human Services. I was able to complete my Associates in Human Service degree during Spring 2017. I started here at Longwood in August 2017 and this is presently my second year here at Longwood. I have obtained many opportunities here, but one has impacted me the most; my internship with Infant and Toddle Connection, here in Farmville. Being at this internship has allowed me to further my interests in working alongside children and gaining a more proper understanding of my future career goals. I was effective in learning many things like what a service coordinator does, completing progress notes, screening children with developmental delays and many other things. I will be graduating in May 2019 and to be able to accomplish these goals is something the I strive for today. I came from a family of no college graduates and to make a difference in their lives would represent a significant win for me.

The material covered in this class has encouraged me to become more of a citizen leader by allowing myself to look at many perspectives during any discussion/argument. The purpose of this ePortfolio is to provide insight into materials that were covered in English-400 with Dr.Guler, here at Longwood University. My ePortfolio will also go over  how the material covered related to the course learning outcomes.  My ENGL-400 journal entries allowed me to further demonstrate my understanding of the rhetorical tools in Thank You for Arguing by providing my own examples. A more formal assignment, the rhetorical analysis, allowed me to have more of an understanding of how to analyze an argument and use rhetorical tools to provide a persuasive argument. Lastly, the common good project improved my techniques on how to develop a persuasive website; being able to appeal to many audiences. Knowing this material will promote me to improve my skills for the future in written communication, verbal speeches, and even formal discussions with individuals.
