ENGL 265 Writing and Rhetoric

Dr. Derek Taylor’s Writing and Rhetoric class, the only foundation class I was required to take, was a valuable resource in helping develop my writing skills.  Through my senior year in high school, I had struggled with self-esteem issues with my own writing.  I write well, or so I have been told, though I could not stand to read my own writing even to proofread it; I would certainly not read feedback on my own writing and hadn’t since middle school.   By the time I got to this class, I had gotten comfortable enough to care about what I was writing and wanted to improve it more than I wanted to hide from it.  Thus, I latched onto every bit of advice I could get to further its quality.  The class also exposed me to some new terms and ways of looking at different sorts of texts, and how to understand and employ them when reading and writing.  I am glad this class is required, I fully enjoyed it, and I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Taylor as a professor.
