Honors Intro Outdoor Adventure Skills was an amazing course that I took freshman year spring semester and would want to take again. I had the honored of learning about the outdoors with Professor Dolence. I learned how to rock climb, canoe, navigate the wilderness with a compass, and make maps. Though this course and Covid-19 I discovered that I am a  good online learner who has the ability to thoughtfully accomplish assignments. The alternative assignments Professor Dolence created  were very successful in teaching me how to canoe and make maps. The learning experience was unlike any other. I watched really cool videos that talked about the outdoors and then took quizzes and crafted projects. Before Honors Intro Outdoor Adventure Skills, I did not know much about how to properly navigate the outdoors. Also I knew what canoeing and rock climbing were but never understood them to the degree I know now. by taking this course I gained knowledge that allowed me to I helped my parents select and purchase an inflatable kayak. My only criticism of the course was that we missed spending more time with Professor Dolence!

The artifact below is an assignment which involves creating a map of a potential hike. The image highlights the technical skills that I had to implement when creating the map, including the geographical structures of the ascending and descending mountain cliffs and lakes. I put in my best effort when creating the map for the software was something at first I was not good at using. I spent a long time perfecting the map until it had all the desired assignment elements. Before this assignment I had little understanding of making detailed maps and what  when into making them. After this assignment I now understand the art of making maps and the complexity of doing so.
