Biography

I am Jake Christ, I just finished my freshman year at Longwood University! Before going to Longwood University, I attended Western Albemarle High School, in Crozet, Virginia. Prior to moving to Virginia, I lived in both North Carolina and New York. I come from a big Italian American family that consists of three brothers and a sister. Everyone loves my mom’s cooking…especially her lasagna.

I entered Longwood University as a Comier Honors College Student. This accomplishment means a lot to me because I work hard to succeed in school. As a freshman at Longwood University, I joined the Honors Student Association that serves honors students at Longwood University. At the end of my freshman year, I applied to be a Honors Peer Mentor and really look forward to being able to help students celebrate the happy times and overcome their struggles.

In addition to enjoying academics and service, I am a three sport athlete who sustained career ending knee injuries. To channel my passion for sports, I took a chance and applied to be a Sports Marking Intern at Longwood University. This was a great decision because the internship is awesome. It allows me to get cool Longwood University apparel that I wear with pride. The internship experience allows me to prepare for athletic events, make sure games go well and fans are engaged. Through the internship I learned that I enjoy being part of a college community.

Second semester, I declared my major as Communication Studies with a Concentration in Public Relations. I know this is the right major for me because it will allow me to have a hands on career that helps others become engaged in their life. My ultimate goal is to make a difference in people’s lives the way so many have in mine. It would be awesome if I could work at Longwood University, or other college, when I graduate.

Throughout my first year at Longwood University, I joined a fraternity called Phi Mu Delta. I chose PMD because the brothers are energetic, cool and inclusive. I never thought I would be in a fraternity but PMD did not rush in a traditional way so I was able to join without compromising my personal and academic integrity. Finally, I joined Buddy Ball, which is a nonprofit organization that helps students with disabilities participate and enjoy organized sports such as basketball, bowling and baseball. Next year I hope to be a leader alongside Professor Lucas who got me interested in Buddy Ball.

Lastly, I am a nice, funny guy who always enjoys a good laugh. I am enthusiastic about life, like to watch anime and sports, and rip-stick on campus.
