Leah Shilling-Traina, assistant professor of mathematics education, presented the paper “Prospective Teachers’ Challenges In Teaching Reasoning-and-proving In Their Mentor Teachers’ Classrooms” at the 2012 meeting of the American Education Research Association held in Vancouver, British Columbia. Along with co-authors Gabriel Stylianides (University of Oxford) and Andreas Stylianides (University of Cambridge), Dr. Shilling-Traina examined the challenges that three prospective teachers faced in planning and teaching lessons related to the activity of reasoning-and-proving in their mentor teachers’ classrooms.
