The Chesapeake Bay Bock Experience was a class that involved a hands-on approach to learning. Students were not only able to learn about the Chesapeake Bay and the waterways that affect it but they were able to visit places such as Tangier Island, Smith Island, Hull Springs Farm, and Reedville, Virginia thanks to the contributions of the Brock family. We focused on three main species in the Chesapeake Bay; Blue Crabs, Oysters, and Menhaden. I chose to make a flyer for National Oyster Day in hopes to spread awareness of the process it takes for oysters to be harvested. Not only do watermen have to put up with harsh weather conditions, but they have also had to learn how to farm oysters. This fictional event was intended to be a meet and greet to allow customers to hear about oyster harvesting directly from the source.
