Hi, My name is Walton Thomas Baines. I am from Orange County, Virginia, where I have lived my entire life. I graduated from Orange County High School in 2019 with an advanced diploma. In High school, I was a prominent member in the Distributed Education Clubs of America or DECA. I ran the school store for two years in DECA, as well as becoming the vice president of competition and leadership training my senior year. I was also a member of National honor society, student council association, African American club, and the Orange County High School tennis team. I learned about Longwood University from My grandmother who is an Alumni from the university. After applying and being accepted to Longwood, I applied to the Cormier Honors College at Longwood and could not be happier to be accepted.
My journey at Longwood has been very exciting and I cannot wait for what the future holds for me. I am a Business major at Longwood and for my Freshman year I was categorized as Pre-Business due to me needing requirements to take upper level courses in the Business School. Also got to meet many amazing teachers and students at Longwood and joined HSA and Phi Sigma Pi Honors Fraternity.
