As an honors student I have to take a certain number of classes throughout my time at Longwood. Communication Studies classes are rarely honors, so I have to enhance classes every now and then. The first Communication Studies class that I enhanced was COMM 410: Digital and Social Media Technologies. I chose to do a social media audit and analysis on the National Panhellenic Conference. The National Panhellenic Conference is a national organization that governs all 26 national sororities in the United States. I analyzed their recent Facebook and Twitter accounts and looked at their response rate. Based off of the data collected I created a social media audit and analysis that provides statistics and recommendations on how they can better their audience engagement.
This was an assignment that I did on my own outside of class. My professor chimed in ever so often to offer advice, but this project was entirely mine.
The main thing that I learn from this was the research skills necessary to perform such a project. In order to collect all of the data, I had to very diligent in the process. I had to take the time and correctly catalog all of the data that was collect.
